HuggingFace Space memory resets <24h since last run?

Hello, I switched from Google Colab into HuggingFace Space so the kernel doesn’t die on me in less than an hour of inactivity. I was under the assumption that with free tiers, I can keep everything in memory and running as long as I remain active on it in the past 48 hours, since this is locked at 48h in the settings.

However, I keep running into the problem where all my work gets deleted seemingly at random even though I was actively running cells and making edits less than 24 hours ago. I setup github backups as a backup measure but now I find myself having to clone from it every single day almost. The server doesn’t shut down, but the storage just empties itself out.

Am I misunderstanding something about the Huggingface space tiers? Am I forced to pay $5/month if I simply don’t want huggingface to delete all my things? Thanks.

Data in Hugging Face Spaces disappears upon restart. While you can use paid Persistent Storage, setting your dataset repository to Private and uploading/downloading data there is free.

Why does space get restart on its own without any error or warning? It happens every time. I research about but never got answer. Thanks in advance.
